What is Smart Locking?

The smart lock is a keyless replacement for traditional door locks. Once installed, Smart Locks connects to your home Bluetooth or WiFi network. Just set your code, download the lock app and enter the passcode on your smartphone when you are within range.

The main safety benefit

Smart Lock works over a wireless connection such as Bluetooth with your cell phone or mobile device. Your smart lock is equipped with a related mobile application which allows you to control all functions with the press of a single button.

Perhaps the greatest advantage of smart locks is the lack of keys. While comfortable to hold, a physical key can cause more trouble than its value. If you lose your key, it will be difficult for you to enter the house. If you're in danger and need to get home right away, rummaging through your bag will only slow you down. When you give a guest the key, the person who owns it can enter your house at will. With smart locking, however, you have control of access to your home at the push of a button.

Login code can be changed at will. For example, if you rent a house, you can change the code between the tenants to prevent unauthorized access. If you change your login code regularly, thieves are less likely to guess your current password. In most cases, the smart lock provides a schedule for restricting access. You can decide who will enter and, more importantly, when to enter.

The conventional key looks reliable, but the heaviest lock can also be chosen. Security keys are much harder to break. Since smart locks rely on digital codes rather than physical mechanisms, access without the right combination is difficult.

The popularity of smart keys is due to their convenience. Soaking up the Bahamian sun? Can't remember if you locked the door? When connected to WiFi, you can activate your key (and change your login code) from anywhere in the world. Some of the keys also offer hands-free functionality. When your smartphone is within range, it picks up a signal and automatically unlocks it. No need to reach into pockets - go and go. The growing number of smart keys also offers hands-free voice control.
